AIT and UNEP Sign Cooperation Agreement to Advance Nutrient Pollution Reduction in Thailand
On 1 September 2026, the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) hosted the signing ceremony of the Project Cooperation Agreement (PCA) for the Thai NuRA Project, in collaboration with UNEP-COBSEA and the Pollution Control Department (PCD).
The ceremony was attended by Prof. Pai-Chi Li, President of AIT; Prof. Manukid Parnichkun, Vice President of AIT; Mr. Mahesh Pradhan, Coordinator, COBSEA, UNEP; Dr. Chaiyo Juisiri, PCD; Ms. Kingdao Intarukdach, Director of the Marine Environmental Management Sub-Division, PCD; and Dr. Wilawan Thanatemaneerat, PCD, supporting Thai NuRA under UNEP-COBSEA.
Dr. Atitaya Panuvatvanich, Deputy Director of NATS Lab and Principal Investigator at AIT, presented AIT’s role in Component 3, focusing on innovative solutions and Best Management Practices (BMPs) for nutrient and wastewater management.
The signing marks an important step toward advancing practical, innovative, and sustainable solutions to reduce nutrient pollution and protect Thailand’s coastal and marine environment.
